Minor Surgery

What is Minor Surgery?

There are many conditions that can be treated quickly and easily by:

  • freezing with liquid nitrogen
  • vaporisation with electrical diathermy
  • simple excision

This just requires a little local anaesthetic and a few minutes of your time.

Which conditions can be treated?

  • skin tags
  • warts
  • moles
  • verruccae
  • benign skin naevi
  • hairy moles
  • crusting skin lesions
  • skin blemishes
  • molluscum warts
  • penile & vaginal warts
  • thread veins
  • haemorrhoids
  • in-growing toe nails
  • lipomas
  • and many other conditions

How do I know what it is before I make an appointment?

You can describe it to us on the phone.
E-mail a picture of it to us.
Or just come in and show it to the doctor.

IF THERE IS ANY RISK OF MALIGNANCY YOU WILL BE REFERRED FOR A WIDE EXCISION AT YOUR LOCAL HOSPITAL.

Will it hurt?

Only the local anaesthetic will hurt when it is being put in. After that the procedure is pain free.

How long does it take?

This depends on the condition being treated.
Typically a lesion being frozen or removed by electrocautery will take 10-15 minutes.
Anything needing excision and stitches afterwards will be up to half an hour.

How much does it cost?

£45.00 - 80.00 depending on treatment.
Complete our Information request form or call +44 (0) 20 7806 4028 for advice and costing.

Your e-med doctor will advise you at the initial consultation.

What if there is a risk of malignancy?

Prior to the minor surgery the doctor will conduct a full examination and determine if there are any problems. IF THERE IS ANY RISK OF MALIGNANCY YOU WILL BE REFERRED FOR A WIDE EXCISION AT YOUR LOCAL HOSPITAL.
